Like a BOSS.

The Bulls won the opening game of the Tallahassee region of the NCAA tournament, winning 6 to 0 over South Carolina. The win puts USF at 42-15 and into the winners bracket for the region. Sara Nevins dominated and the offense came up big late in the game to put it away.

The Bulls got on the board in the 2nd inning. Lee Ann Spivey started it with a solo home run, making it 1 to 0. Ta’coia Williams would walk after and then come home after an RBI single from Kristen Wyckoff making it 2 to 0. In the 5th, Wyckoff would started it with a walk, followed by Juli Weber getting on base on a fielders choice and then followed by an Ashli Goff single. Stephanie Medina then hit a single to make it 3 to 0. After that Williams double hit a bigger single, scoring 2 and making it 5 to 0. In the 6th, Veronica Gajownik started the inning with a double and later scored on another RBI single from Ashli Goff, making it 6 to 0.

Sara Nevins was in BOSS mode as usual. She went 5.2 innings, allowing 2 hits, 3 walks, and struck out 8 batters. With the win, Nevins recorded her 100th win. I can’t begin to tell you what that number truly means, but to start, its incredible. Erica Nunn worked the last 1.1 innings, striking out 4 batters to close out the game.

The Bulls will now play the winner of the FSU vs. Fordham game (playing tonight) tomorrow at noon.
