Tournament time.

The Bulls are headed to Houston to take part in the first AAC tournament. USF, 40-14 (13-5) is the 2nd seed in the tournament and will face Memphis in the first round (game begins at 1:30 PM). Memphis, 23-32, is the 7 seed and was swept during the regular season by the Bulls.

Memphis is led by freshman outfielder Lindsay Crowdes who is batting .358 with 6 doubles, 7 triples, and 10 RBIs on the season. Freshman infielder Brittany Vaughn is batting .295 with 11 doubles, 2 home runs, and leads the team with 33 RBIs. Sophomore catcher Georganna Goodwin is batting .286 with 6 doubles, 4 home runs, and has driven in 21 runs. Senior infielder Kelly Braman is batting .270 with 5 doubles, 5 home runs, and has 20 RBIs.

In the regular sweep of the Tigers, the USF pitching staff dominated the series, allowing just 3 hits (1 in each game) and just 1 run. Sara Nevin pitched a combined 12 innings, allowing 2 hits, 1 run, 1 walk, and struck out 20 batters. Erica Nunn, coming off of an 18 strike out performance in her last game, went 5 innings, allowing a hit , 2 walks and struck out 5. USF dominated and should be poised for it again in the 4th meeting.

On the mound, Memphis is led by senior RHP Ellen Roberts. Roberts went 12-19 in the regular season with a 2.80 ERA. She worked 200.1 innings, allowing 216 hits, 101 runs, 56 walks and struck out 146 batters. Another arm to watch is freshman RHP Christian Novak who is 9-10 with a 3.84 ERA. She worked 107.2 innings, allowing 107 hits, 67 runs, 58 walks, and struck out 81 batters.

The Bulls run ruled the Tigers twice in the 3-game set, winning two games 12 to 0 and 10 to 0. Stephanie Medina and Kourtney Salvarola were huge during the series, but other bats came up big for the Bulls. Ashli Goff went 6 for 10 in the 3-game series, driving in 2 runs and hitting a home run. Juli Weber went 5 for 8 as well, giving the Bulls threats up and down the batting order that the Tiger pitching staff will struggle to deal with.

The winner of this game will face the winner of the Temple vs. Louisville game on Friday afternoon at 5 PM. GO BULLS \m/
