USF baseball beats Memphis 5 to 3

The Bulls had to rally late, but they won 5 to 3 over Memphis, running their record to 24-18 (10-7) on the season, taking the series.

Casey Mulholland started the game, going 4.1 innings, allowing 5 hits, 3 runs, 4 walks, and striking out 1. It wasn’t his best game, but a sharp bullpen (rested after a complete game from Herget the night before) took care of business to stop Memphis from scoring anymore. Janick Serrallonga worked 3.2 innings, allowing 3 hits and struck out 3 batters. Jordan Strittmatter worked the 9th inning, striking out one batter to close out the key win for the Bulls.

At the plate, Austin Lueck got it done leading off for the Bulls, going 2 for 5 with 2 runs scored and 1 RBI. Luke Borders went 2 for 3 with a run scored and 2 RBIs driven in. Zach Gilcrease went 2 for 4 and scored a run as well to lead an offense that did just enough to get the win.

The Bulls will try for the series sweep tomorrow starting at 11:30 AM.
