The Bulls lost a critical game to Houston, falling 3 to 2 to the Cougars. The loss sent the Bulls to 21-16 (7-6) on the season. Jimmy Herget had a decent outing, but the Bulls left a several runners on base throughout the course of the game and in the end, it cost them.

USF struck first in the 1st inning after Kyle Teaf singled and Lawrence Pardo grounded out to send him to second. Luke Maglich then hit a sac fly that allowed Teaf to score making it to 1 to 0. In the bottom of the second, Houston tied it at 1 to 1, but the Bulls rallied in the third. Nik Alfonso singled and Teaf followed him, followed by Pardo getting hit by a pitch. Maglich hit into a fielders choice, but it allowed Alfonso to score. In the 8th, Houston scored 2 runs, taking the game away from the Bulls that they needed so badly.

Jimmy Herget pitched well for the Bulls despite not having his best stuff. He worked 7.2 innings, allowing 10 hits, but just 2 runs, 2 walks and struck out 3 batters. Janick Serrallonga allowed a hit and a walk and was on the mound when the 2 runs came across. Jordan Strittmatter struck out the last batter in the 8th, but the damage was done when he was one the mound.

The Bulls will try to rebound tonight as they take the field for game two (game begins at 7:30 PM). Casey Mulholland is expected to get the start and the Bulls will need a huge outing from him if they want to even the series up.
